Press TV has conducted an interview with Edward Corrigan, a human rights attorney from Ontario, to discuss recent remarks by United Nations special rapporteur Juan Mendez, who has criticized the US for overuse of some torture techniques, such as solitary confinement.
The political commentator says the US authorities have been denying the UN investigators’ access to prisons because the majority of inmates have been kept behind bars because of their skin color and ethnicity.
Corrigan further slams the United States for having the highest incarceration rate in the world.
The analysts also highlights the torture of the prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay, adding that torture techniques have now turned into a widespread practice across several US states.
