Former Tunisian prime minister Mehdi Jomaa has officially handed over power to his successor Habib Essid during a ceremony in Carthage in the north of Tunis.
Essid has called for a close collaboration between all cabinet members. The ministers now have 10 days to set their priorities for the next 3 months.
The leaders of political parties and national organizations have attended the event and congratulated Jomaa and Essid for the success of the democratic experience.
4 successive years of political turmoil and social unrest have led to a nationwide economic crisis and security problems that the new government must resolve as soon as possible.
The peaceful handover of power is the 5th in post-revolution Tunisia. From now on, Prime Minister Habib Essid will be responsible for restoring the confidence of the people in the authorities.
