The Lebanese army has reportedly discovered a vehicle rigged with 20 kilograms of explosive material in the northeastern village of Ain al-Shaab, near the restive town of Arsal.

According to a security source, Lebanese army officers spotted a black Kia with a forged Lebanese license plate on Thursday near a road in the border village that lies just one kilometer from Arsal, near the Syrian border.

After inspecting the vehicle, Lebanese soldiers found that it was rigged, Lebanon-based news outlet, Daily Star, reported, adding that efforts are currently underway to dismantle the explosives.

The discovery comes following a visit with Lebanese troops in and around Arsal by army commander, General Jean Kahwagi, who warned the soldiers to expect more terrorist attacks.

According to the report, army investigators are also trying to identify the owner of the car, which was found parked in a remote area near the only road that links Ain al-Shaab to the border town.

The Lebanese army has been targeted by repeated terror attacks by Takfiri terrorists in the vicinity of Arsal since the outbreak of the foreign-backed war in neighboring Syria in early 2011.

The Takfiri terrorists ambushed a Lebanese army convoy last month on the outskirts of Ras Baalbek, north of Arsal, killing six officers.

Meanwhile, the ISIL Takfiri terrorists and the al-Nusra Front terror elements still hold 25 Lebanese soldiers and police officers captive on the outskirts of Arsal, over five months after kidnapping them during a five-day battle in the border town.
