At least 6 people are dead and over 40 have been injured after four US States were hit by separate mass shootings during the Halloween weekend

In Texarkana, Texas, three people were killed and three others were injured after a fistfight between two men at the party.

"Apparently, this all started when a fistfight broke out between two men at the party. At some point during this fight, at least two men there pulled out rifles and started shooting," the Texarkana Texas Police Department said in a statement.

One man was pronounced dead on the scene, and a woman and another man died at the hospital overnight.

Detectives are searching for 20-year-old Breoskii Warren, who they've identified as a suspect in the shooting.

Another shooting in Indianapolis left one woman dead and eight others injured during a party attended by more than 100 people.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the party early Sunday morning to find shots being fired and people running, according to the department.

Police had not yet determined how many shooters had opened fire or why as of Sunday afternoon.

“Several people have been detained and investigators are still working to determine their exact involvement in this incident,” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

In a separate shooting, two people are dead and 18 others were injured after a “fight between two groups” broke out in the street early Sunday morning in Tampa, Florida.

“It was a disturbance or a fight between two groups. And in this fight between two groups we had hundreds of innocent people involved that were in the way,” Tampa police said.

One person was detained early Sunday and police are looking for other suspected shooters.

Also in Chicago, several people were attending a Halloween party in the North Lawndale neighborhood when a fight broke out and a suspect began shooting. A total of 15 people were shot and taken to local hospitals.

Mass shootings are a major concern in the US, as domestic violence and gun violence have also risen during the last year. The US experienced more than 600 mass shootings in 2022, nearly double the number recorded four years ago when there were 336, according to Washington-based Gun Violence Archive.

The rate of deaths caused by firearms is getting worse as the population of the US goes up. This is while firearm purchases rose to record levels in 2021 and 2022. The changing legal landscape for firearms comes as gun ownership continues to grow across the country.

Analysts see a link between bias-motivated gun violence and a rise in hate groups and toxic discourse in the United States targeting vulnerable, often marginalized population.
