Iranian cyclist Saeid Safarzadeh has put on pretty remarkable performances at the 36th edition of Tour of Iran (Azarbaijan) and took the top position at the end of the fifth stage of the international tournament.

On Thursday, the 37-year-old professional road bicycle racer for China’s Tianyoude Hotel Cycling Team covered a distance of 179.9 kilometers (111.7 miles) from the city of Sareyn in Iran’s northwestern Ardabil Province to Tabriz to be awarded the gold medal.

Anatoliy Budyak of Malaysia’s Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team clinched the silver medal, and Almaty Astana Motors rider Anton Kuzmin from Kazakhstan pocketed the bronze.

Safarzadeh wore both the red and golden jerseys. Kazakh cyclist Rudolf Remkhi from Almaty Astana Motors took home the white jersey. The green jersey went to Iranian cyclist Mahdi Sohrabi, who currently rides for an Iraqi cycling team.
