World Cup 2022: Croatia 0-0 Belgium

Romelu Lukaku has spurned second-half chances as second team in the FIFA ranking, Belgium, crashed out of the 2022 World Cup after a blank draw with Croatia in group F.

The Croats were the better side in the first half. They were gifted a penalty. But the spot-kick was controversially chalked off following a VAR check for offside in the build-up.

Knowing his side needed a win to go through; Roberto Martinez threw on Romelu Lukaku at the break. However, the Inter Milan striker wasted two glorious chances, and that sums up the Red Devils’ World Cup, as they suffered the indignity of an early exit. The draw was enough for Croatia to confirm their place in the last-16 as the group’s runners-up.
