Pakistanis launch own social media to counter “imperialism” on Western online platforms

A group of IT experts in Pakistan has launched a new social media platform as an alternative to the current ones mostly based in the West. The new platform has emerged after mass complaints of discrimination against Muslim users in the available social media.
Behind these protests in Muslim countries like Pakistan is the blasphemous contents repeatedly published on Western social media networks against Islam and its Prophet Muhammad.
Experts say in social media, anti-Islamic blasphemous contents are systematically encouraged under the convenient cover of freedom of expression. However, they say posts highlighting the reaction on issues linked with blasphemous contents and the oppression of Muslims are treated as hate speech--- on the basis of which accounts of millions of users have been blocked.
Shaheer Sialvi is a popular student leader with his massive number of followers on social media until recently. But now he - like millions of other users - appears to be the victim of what he calls politically biased interpretation of hate speech on social media.
Dr Asad Ali Shah is determined to address mass complaints of discrimination against Muslim users on social media.
Dr Asad, an author of a book on Islamophobia, has developed an independent social media network---The Sosho--- the new social media platform which he finally launched on https://www.sosho.pk/. The Sosho appears to be a clone of Facebook.
Observers say the Western social media networks have fueled xenophobia and Islamophobia which have alarmingly surged crimes such as stabbing, murder, ban on Islamic rituals, attacks on mosques and even major incidents of terrorism in the West and alleged pogrom of Muslims in parts of India in recent years.
