Pompeo’s ‘ticking clock’ on Iran is broken

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s “ticking clock” on Iran is broken.

His “maximum pressure” campaign failed.

Undeterred, he vowed that the Trump regime will go it alone by imposing snapback sanctions on the country unilaterally — defying the world community, the rule of law be damned with him at State and Trump in the White House, the same thing true if Biden wins in November.

Pompeo also intends trying to block Iran’s military from legally buying conventional weapons after October 18 when the world body embargo expires.

Despite everything thrown at the Islamic Republic by the Trump regime — defying the UN Charter and Security Council — the country is more resilient and self-sufficient now than when DJT took office.

On Friday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh mocked Pompeo, tweeting the following:

“13 members, incl. President of UNSC have declared that America has NO legal standing in the first place to recourse to 2231, as it’s not a JCPOA participant.”

“The clock is ticking just in Pompeo’s parallel alternate universe! This happens when an ex-spymaster leads US diplomacy.”

The vast majority of world community nations — including all permanent Security Council members except the US + Germany and other major ones — oppose the Trump regime’s anti-JCPOA, anti-SC Res. 2231 affirming it agenda.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif tweeted:

“SecPompeo‘s lawless bullying leaves US isolated again: While US prevented a Sec. Council debate about its unlawful notification on Friday, members in today’s meeting on ME refuted US’ attempt as null and void.”

“Time for @realDonaldTrump to stop listening to novice bullies.”

Neocon Fred Fleitz heads the hardline anti-peace, equity and justice Center for Security Policy.

Formerly he was a National Security Council, CIA, DEA, DHS, House Intelligence Committee staffer.

On August 30, the National Review featured his anti-Iran tirade.

Calling the UN “useless,” he urged the US to “go it alone to defend its national interests” against peace-promoting Iran threatening no one.

He falsely accused Iran of a “surge in belligerent behavior” —how the US operates worldwide, not the Islamic Republic anywhere.

He lied claiming Iran “cheated on the JCPOA.”

He lied calling the landmark agreement “deeply flawed.”

He lied claiming “UN members (are) look(ing) the other way on a growing list of dangerous Iranian provocations and JCPOA violations.”

None exist!

The Trump regime breached international and US constitutional law by illegally withdrawing from the agreement — based on Big Lies.

No evidence from the US intelligence community or other sources suggests that Iran is “covert(ly) work(ing) on nuclear weapons.”

Fleitz falsely claimed otherwise, providing no evidence backing all his accusations because none exists.

He defied reality by accusing Iran of breaching its “nuclear-nonproliferation commitments” — what nuclear armed and dangerous USA and Israel do by their lawless actions that Fleitz ignored, supporting their war on humanity.

Iran is at peace with its neighbors in stark contrast to raging US wars in multiple theaters and Israel’s forever war on Gaza and other Occupied Territories.

Fleitz turned reality on its head, falsely accusing Iran of “almost (going to) war several times in the last year” — a nation that hasn’t attacked another one in centuries.

His tirade included a further litany of bald-faced Big Lies about Iran.

At the same time, he ignored endless wars on humanity by the US, NATO, and Israel, an axis of evil threatening everyone everywhere like no other ever before them.
