Barcelona players agree to take 70% pay cut

Barcelona players have agreed on a pay cut during the coronavirus pandemic that make additional contributions to ensure non-sporting staff receives full wages.

The Catalan Giants captain Lionel Messi and many club’s players released a statement that they will make an extra contribution on top of the 70 percent pay cut so that the club's employees can earn 100 percent of their salaries during this time.

Earlier, some European clubs players including Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Union Berlin have also agreed to take pay cuts.

Spain is into the 3rd week of a lockdown while all organized football matches in this country have been postponed indefinitely. Most leagues in Europe are suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, with this summer's Euro 2020 tournament postponed for another year.
