The declaration of a week-long violence reduction in Afghanistan as agreed by the Taliban and US has caused mixed reactions in Afghanistan.

Kabul also says it is fully committed to the agreement adding that Afghan troops will respond to Taliban’s possible attacks during this period. The move has been widely welcomed by the war-weary Afghans who say they are tired of war and violence and back every move toward bringing peace and stability to their country .

It is expected that Afghanistan will experience a ceasefire after the end of reduction in violence period and then preparations will be made to turn the peace process into an intra-Afghan dialogue.
