In photos: Funeral held for Gen. Soleimani, his companions

Thousands attended a funeral procession for Iranian military commander Major General Qasem Soleimani, Iraqi anti-terror forces chief Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and eight others who were martyred in Friday morning's US strike on their motorcade just outside Baghdad airport.

Iraq held a huge funeral procession on Saturday for Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani and his nine other companions who were martyred in a US drone strike in Baghdad Airport on Friday. High-ranking dignitaries attended the funeral cortege.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi attended the funeral of the Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani, and the Iraqi anti-terror forces commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis who were martyred in an air strike at Baghdad airport on January 4, 2020.
Former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki also attended the funeral.
Mourners vowed to avenge the blood of the slain commander and his companions.
