Over football news in Germany, Schalke have missed out on the top spot in Bundesliga, as they suffered a 2-nil defeat at the hands of Hoffenheim.
After Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich and Leipzig all dropped points over the weekend, Schalke could have taken advantage of the situation to move up to 1st place, but instead they went down against Hoffenheim who came out firing late in the 2nd half with two goals from Andrej Kramaric and Ihlas Bebou. The result leaves Schalke 7th in the table with 14 points, 2 shy of Gladbach at the summit.
