Kashmir reopens doors to tourists after two-month shutdown

First tourists made their way back into Kashmir as the shutdown of the region imposed by the Indian government expired on Thursday, as shown in the footage filmed in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

However, tourism in the area has already suffered losses. A hotelier Bashir Ahmad complained that "our peak season has already passed."

The Tourist Advisory asking the visitors to leave the Kashmir valley was issued on August 2 due to a "terror threat" days before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi suspended Article 370 of the Constitution stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special status.
