Team Iran have put up a great performance against world No.2 Spain, despite losing 73 to 65 in Group D’s conclusion day at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

Team Iran got off to a perfect start in the opening quarter after getting to a 21-to-18 advantage, but the Spaniards turned the tables to take a 33-31 lead before hitting the locker rooms.

The three-time Asian Champions re-took command in the 3rd, and took a five-point cushion, at some point in the final quarter, but Spain switched through gears to first tie it at 65-all, and then top it off with an 8-to-0-run to secure a 73-to-65 win. NBA star Marc Gasol tallied 16 points for Spain, and Mohammad Jamshidi bagged 15 points for Iran.
