Sudan deaths and the Saudi connection

Sudan’s ruling military council reportedly discussed storming a main protest site with Saudi Arabia before going ahead with the assault in the capital Khartoum.

The violent crackdown earlier this month, at a sit-in demanding a transition to a civilian led government sparked international outcry. Witnesses say security forces fired at protesters for at least an hour, killing many civilians.

According to Middle East Eye, plans to destroy the protest camp were top of the agenda during talks held between the Sudanese military council chief and Saudi Arabia along with its regional allies the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
