Italy plagued with racism epidemic, FARE chief says

Piara Powar, the Executive Director of the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE)

The head of European Football Anti-Discrimination Body says Italy is suffering from an "epidemic of racism inside its stadiums."

Piara Powar’s comments come in the wake of alleged racist abuse hurled at Juventus striker Moise Kean in Cagliari on Tuesday.

In the incident, the 19-year-old, who was jeered throughout by some Cagliari fans, celebrated his late goal by standing in front of the home fans and opening his arms. Cagliari fans then made noises regarded by some as a racist taunt.
