Asian Cup: Japan beat Saudi Arabia 1-0, reach quarterfinals

In the 2019 Asian Cup, Japan have advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament after beating Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the Round of 16.

Japan got on the score-sheet when Takehiro Tomiyasu headed home a corner-kick in the 20th minute. The Saudi’s, who last won the title more than 2 decades ago, upped the pressure, but couldn’t breakdown the Japanese defense.

That’s while, Japan stay on track for a Record-Extending 5th Title and will face Vietnam in the last 8 on Thursday.

That’s while in another knockout encounter, Defending Champions Australia reached the Quarterfinals after defeating Uzbekistan in a Penalty Shootout.
