NHL: Columbus Blue Jackets 2-3 Vancouver Canucks

In the national hockey league, the Blue Jackets have suffered a 3-2 loss against the Vancouver Canucks at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus.

The Blue Jackets scored the 1st goal of the game just 47 seconds into the 1st period as Seth Jones’ shot was deflected into the net. Josh Leivo made it 1-all after 8 minutes of play in the 3rd but in less than 2 minutes Oliver Bjorkstrand put the hosts back in the lead.

Elias Pettersson bagged the 2nd for the visiting Canucks, before Jake Virtanen secured the victory for Vancouver with his go-ahead goal. Jacob Markstrom stopped 34 shots to help Vancouver in the away win.

In Washington DC, the Capitals have extended their winning streak to 3, following a 6-2 routing of the Detroit Red Wings. Alex Ovechkin had a hat-trick for Washington. Brett Connolly, Travis Boyd and T.J. Oshie also scored for the Capitals while, Nicklas Backstrom had 4 assists to help in the huge victory.

The Red Wings scored twice through Dylan Larkin and Gustav Nyquist. The capitals will next visit Carolina Hurricanes while the Red Wings will host Ottawa Senators.
