France has acknowledged its role in systematic torture during Algeria war of independence.

France has acknowledged its role in systematic torture during Algeria war of independence. The acknowledgment was made by President Macron while visiting Maurice Audin’s widow. Audin was an Algerian communist who went missing in 1957. Algeria was ruled by France for 130 years. Many believe France needs to do more to compensate for its colonial past there.
