Iranian freestyle wrestlers clinch 3 medals at Cadet World Championships

Iranian freestyle wrestlers have collected three medals, including one gold, at the 2018 Cadet Wrestling World Championships in Croatia.

On Tuesday and the opening day of the international sporting event in the Croatian capital city of Zagreb, Iran’s Amirhossein Zare’ downed his American opponent Daniel Kerkvliet 7-4 in the final encounter of the 110-kilogram weight category, and clinched the gold medal.

In the 80-kilogram class, Mohammadreza Ghiyasi lost to his Russian rival Dmitrii Elkanov 6-9 and picked up a silver medal for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Additionally, Mohammad Karimiseifabad prevailed over Narek Haroutunian, a representative from Armenia, 10-5 in the third-place bout of the 65-kilogram weight division, and settled for the bronze medal.

The Cadet Wrestling World Championships got under way on July 2, and will finish on July 8, 2018.
