Students from the National Agrarian University in Managua protested against the latest reform of social security pensions in the capital Managua on Thursday.

Protesters threw stones and Molotov cocktails at police, while police outside the university held the students back with tear gas and rubber bullets. Several of the protesters were reportedly injured during the violence.

The reforms, launched by President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega, increase payroll taxes and make changes to pensions in an attempt to improve the country's social security system.
