Israel has begun constructing its first new settlement since 1991. The settlement is being built for some 40 Israeli families who were evicted from the West Bank outpost of Amona in 2017. The move is in defiance of UN Security Council Resolution 2334 which calls for a halt to Israel’s settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory.
