Iranian team in Azerbaijan for 2018 AFC Futsal Championship warm-up matches

The Iranian men’s national futsal team has travelled to Baku to play two exhibition games against the Azerbaijani side ahead of the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship.

On Saturday, head coach of the Iranian team, Seyyed Mohammad Nazemasharieh, announced the names on the roster for the January 23 and 24 fixtures.

The 48-year-old picked Sepehr Mohammadi and Alireza Samimi as goalkeepers.

Farhad Tavakoli, Hossein Tayyebi, Ghodrat Bahadori, Abolghasem Orouji, Saeed Ahmadabbasi, Mohammad Shajari, Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh, Ahmad Esmaeilpour, Moslem Oladghobad, Hamid Ahmadi, Mahdi Javid and Mehran Alighadr have joined the Iranian outfit as forward players.

The Iranian men’s national futsal team is gearing up for the 2018 AFC Futsal Championship, which will take place in Chinese Taipei between February 1 and 11, 2018.

During the official draw ceremony at the Sherwood Taipei in Taipei on December 12, 2017, Iran joined China, Iraq and Myanmar in Group C of the upcoming continental sports event.

The host nation, Bahrain, Malaysia and Vietnam form Group A in the preliminary round of the tournament.

Japan is drawn in Group B, and is pitted against South Korea, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Group D consists of Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon and Thailand.
