A huge fire has broken out at a lounge in an Indian airport’s domestic terminal, with police reporting that the blaze has left no injuries and come under control.

The fire started at the lounge of Domestic Terminal 1A of the Mumbai Airport in Santacruz on Saturday.

Official reports said no one was hurt and airport operations were not affected after the fire brigade used eight fire engines to contain the blaze.

“The ceremonial lounge is away from the terminal building. Operations have not been affected. The fire has been doused. Every thing is under control,” an official statement from the Mumbai International Airport Limited read.

Last month, 14 people lost their lives and over a dozen sustained injuries after a fire broke out at a building in the city’s Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel locality.

On January 3, four people were killed and five were injured after a fire broke out in a residential building in Mumbai’s Andheri (East).
