Volcanic eruption in Papua New Guinea forces evacuations

The Kadovar Island volcano in Papua New Guinea spewed smoke and ash, Sunday, after awakening for the first time in centuries. More than 500 people were evacuated as a result.

The volcano was thought to be dormant; the last-known eruption was recorded in the 17th century.
