North Korea warns of war, China seeks talks after new UN sanctions

Tensions remain high on the Korean Peninsula amid North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs and the US-led pressure over the issue. Still, there are hopes for calm in the region, with the Winter Olympics now just six weeks away. South Korea, which hosts the games, has invited the North to participate. Pyongyang has not responded yet.
