Hundreds of youth activists from the Dreamers movement staged a mass ‘die-in’ along the corridors of the US Capitol in Washington DC on Wednesday.

The protesters want legislators to vote for protections to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which allows a two year stay in the US for certain undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country before the age of 16.

US President Donald Trump terminated the act upon taking office, which will come into effect when it expires next March.

The protest forms part of a week-long campaign by the United We Dream organisation, an advocacy group for young undocumented migrants, known as dreamers.
