The governments in the United States, Europe and some Persian Gulf countries seek to make the lives of the Syrian people "much more difficult" by means of sanctions, says a commentator.

“These [US-led] sanctions not only prevent food from getting inside Syria but also medicines,” Mimi al-Laham told Press TV on Tuesday.

“It is interesting for the United Nations to be talking about humanitarian situation, but not in fact mentioning this highly inhuman treatment of the Syrian people, the fact that the entire nation is being starved by sanctions,” the Syrian activist said.

On Monday, the United Nations aid coordinator Mark Lowcock said that the situation in Syria is still catastrophic for ordinary people, of whom 13 million are in need of aid.
