UN blacklists Saudi coalition in Yemen

A draft UN blacklist names the so-called Saudi-led coalition for its conduct in Yemen. According to the draft, "In Yemen, the coalition’s actions objectively led to the listing for the killing and maiming of children, with 683 child casualties attributed to this party, and, as a result of being responsible for 38 verified incidents, for attacks on schools and hospitals during 2016." In August, the Saudi UN ambassador, Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, pointed out that there was “no justification whatsoever” for including the coalition on the blacklist. The coalition was put on the blacklist last year but removed soon after as Riyadh threatened to slash its UN funding.
