Sanders blasts Saudi Arabia
US Senator Bernie Sanders has hit the headlines again: The US politician has lashed out against Saudi Arabia and harshly criticized the US government for its relationship with the Arab Kingdom. “I consider [Saudi Arabia] to be an undemocratic country that has supported terrorism around the world, it has funded terrorism. … They are not an ally of the United States.” The remarks have been interpreted as a break from the bipartisan consensus on Capitol Hill with regard to Saudi Arabia. The oil-rich Arab Kingdom has for long been considered as a US ally, friend and a partner in the so-called war on terror.
