Will China defend North Korea against US aggression?
President Trump took to Twitter on Sunday, condemning Pyongyang's actions, outlining some of the options under consideration to interfere and intimidate the sovereign East-Asian country.
This is not the US' first attempt at interfering with a sovereign country and it's politics. The UN is also under pressure from Trump's government regarding the nuclear situation of North Korea. China is a North Korean ally, will they stand by North Korea?
China is North Korea's closest ally and commercial partner, buying 83 per cent of the country's exports and selling 85 per cent of the goods imported by Pyongyang.
However, a collapse in the trade relationship between China and the US would have devastating consequences for both countries as well as the international community.
According to data from the US Government, the trade in goods between the US and China last year totaled a staggering $578.6 billion, while the trade in services between the countries was worth $69.6 billion.
Meanwhile, Russian relations with the US are continuing to deteriorate with Moscow asserting the current approach to Pyongyang has not yet yielded "positive" results.
