A political analyst believes the US-led coalition airstrikes in Syria amount to war crimes, adding that Washington has no right to conduct such operations in the war-torn country.

“The United States and its so-called coalition allies have absolutely no legal right to be operating in Syria at all. What they are doing is contrary to international law. They are in effect committing war crimes every time they carry out these kinds of attacks and people are killed,” James O'Neill told Press TV in an interview on Friday.

The US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be Daesh targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.
