World Number 1 Rafael Nadal has bagged his 16th Grand Slam title after overwhelming a towering Kevin Anderson 6-3, 6-3 and 6-4 in the US Open Final.
The left-handed Spaniard, who was playing in his 23rd Grand Slam final, closed out the first set by breaking the South African twice.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with the King of Clay staying untroubled on serve while maintaining relentless pressure on his big-serving opponent. Anderson briefly rallied in the third set but Nadal proved to be invincible throughout the match.
The 31-year-old has now won 10 French Open titles, 3 in New York, 2 at Wimbledon and one Australian Open crown. With the triumph, he joins Ivan Lendl and Fred Perry as triple US Open winners.
