Manchester City have stunned 10-man Liverpool 5-0 in the fourth round of the English Premier League at the Eithad Stadium.

Argentina striker Sergio Aguero opened the scoring for the hosts in the 24th minute before Liverpool striker Sadio Mane was sent-off after catching City’s goalie Ederson in the face with his boot.

The Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus doubled the lead before the break. City took ruthless advantage of their numerical superiority when Aguero flourished Jesus for his brace in the 53rd minute. Leroy Sane added two late goals which completed the rout and gave city their biggest win over Liverpool since 1937.

The victory lifts Pep Guardiola's side to the top of the table above rivals Man United and ensures a first bitter defeat of the season for the Merseyside Reds.
