The Iranian women's rowing club Sokkan has put an end to the Islamic Republic’s medal drought at the International Canoe Federation (ICF) World Dragon Boat Club Crew Championships, clinching the country’s first ever medal at the prestigious international tournament.
The Iranian team took part in the 200m 10 seater senior women final in the northeastern Italian city of Venice, and set the time of 1:16.24 to land in the third spot and get the bronze medal.
Ukraine’s Mala Flotylya clocked 1:12.66 and stood on top of the podium. SV Union Boeckingen- Neckardrachen registered 1:15.12 and sat in the second place.
The ICF World Dragon Boat Club Crew Championships kicked off in Italy on September 3 and wrapped up on September 8, 2017.
