World No.1 Rafael Nadal of Spain will play for the US Open title after beating Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro 3-1.

The Argentine won the first set 6-4 on Friday but then was boggled in the second set by the Spaniard who cruised to 6-3 and 6-2 victories in the remaining sets to record his 15th straight victory in a Grand Slam semifinals since del Potro beat him at Flushing Meadows in 2009.

The double US Open champion will play in his third major final of the year on Sunday in pursuit of his 16th Grand Slam title when he faces 28th-seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa.

Nadal won the French Open in June and will have a huge edge in experience against the first-time Grand Slam finalist Anderson.
