Belgium 1st European team to reach 2018 World Cup

Belgium

Belgium have become the 1st European side to reach the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia, after defeating hosts Greece 2-1.
The first half on Sunday finished goalless, with all the 3 goals coming in a span of 5 minutes in the 2nd half.

Jan Vertonghen gave Belgium the lead in the 70th minute with a left-footed drive into the bottom corner. And then, 3 minutes later, Greek midfielder Zeca netted the ball on a pinpoint cross, to level the match at 1 goal apiece.

However, only a minute later, Manchester United striker Lukaku scored with a glancing header to make his country the 1st European side to qualify for next year’s World Cup finals. Brazil, Iran, Japan and Mexico had already reached the event from other continents, with Russia automatically getting a place as the host country.
