France have posted an emphatic 4-nil victory over the Netherlands at the Stade de France to go top of World Cup qualifying in group A.

France opened the scoring after just 14 minutes, when Antoine Greezmann slotted the ball through the legs of the keeper, following a neat one-two with Olivier Girou.

The Dutchmen, who were already struggling to create real chances, played the last half hour with 10 men, after play-maker Kevin Strootman received his marching orders.

The hosts made the extra man count in the 73rd minute as Tooma Lemaagh, fired a wonderful Volley from long range into the top corner.

The Monaco midfielder himself then scored his 2nd of the night, tucking into an empty net with 2 minutes remaining from time.

The rout was completed, when substitute Kylian Mbappe got his name on the score-sheet in stoppage time. The result means that the Euro 2016 hosts are on 16 points at the top of group A, with the Netherlands in 4th on 10 points.
