US Open 2017: Dimitrov beats Safranek in straight sets

At the US Open which is currently underway in New York, seventh seed Grigor Dimitrov made a strong start and overpowered Czech qualifier Vaclav Safranek in straight sets on Wednesday. The Bulgarian will next face Andrey Rublev of Russia. 


Meanwhile, 9th seed David Goffin also made it into round 2 by beating veteran Julien Benneteau in 4 sets. Next up for the Belgian will be Guido Pella of Argentina. 


And, Australia’s Nick Kyrgios suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury and was knocked out of the tournament by John Millman in 4 sets.

As you may know 5 of the world's top 10 players have missed the tournament through injury. There were also wins for Tomas Berdych, Dominic Thiem, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Feliciano Lopez.
