The British and their assets in the US Republican and Democratic Parties are planning to have a devastating war with Russia in order to get rid of Donald Trump because the US president is not willing to continue the policy of confrontation against Russia and China, a journalist and political analyst in Washington says.
Mike Billington, an editor with the Executive Intelligence Review, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV while commenting on reports of the US carrying out a second flight test of a newly upgraded nuclear free-fall bomb – the B61 nuclear bomb -- in five months in the state of Nevada.
“There are some absolutely crazy people in the US Congress who would in fact talk about encouraging a war with Russia. They actually want to build weapons and pull out of the INF Treaty. But they are lunatics in many aspects of the crisis that we are going through right now, and in fact most of them are trying to get rid of President Trump,” Billington said, referring to the lawmakers connected to the military-industrial complex.
The INF Treaty is the abbreviated name of the treaty between the United States and Russia on the elimination of their intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles. It was signed in December 1987 in Washington, DC by then US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
‘Trump strengthens nuclear arsenal but won’t use it’
Billington said the nuclear weapons program and the B61-12 bombs are all part of the previous US administration’s plan.
“Trump has adopted the policy of strengthening the military, strengthening the nuclear arsenal, but the idea that he would be somehow preparing for a nuclear war is ludicrous,” he said when asked if Trump is planning to launch a nuclear strike against North Korea or somewhere else.
“It’s insane and it is part of the general effort by the British and their assets both in the Republican and Democratic Parties to get rid of Trump, precisely because Trump refuses to continue this insane confrontation with Russia and China,” the analyst explained.
Speaking at a joint press conference with the Finnish president on Thursday, Trump expressed confidence that the US and Russia would eventually have detente.
Trump said he hopes that “we do have good relations with Russia. I say it loud and clear, I’ve been saying it for years. I think it’s a good thing if we have great relationships, or at least good relationships with Russia.”
“That’s very important, and I believe someday that will happen. It's a big country, it's a nuclear country, it's a country that we should get along with, and I think we will eventually get along with Russia,” he added.
‘Trump seeks close ties with Russia, China’
Billington said, “The policy that Trump has quite forcefully followed is to establish these close relations with Russia and extremely close relations with China on the New Silk Road.”
“This is the only hope for mankind to get out from under the Obama policy, the George Bush policy of geopolitics, the British confrontation between East and West and to join with the Silk Road process which is the basis on which we can bring peace to the entire world, including the Palestinian-Israeli crisis and the Iranian situation,” he argued.
“We now see that Iran and Saudi Arabia are talking to each other. We see that the Chinese are coming into the Middle East with the win-win approach. Then let’s have peace by getting Iran and Saudi Arabia to talk, the Palestinians and Israelis to talk, not to just talk but to get together on development, on real physical infrastructure development,” he stated.
“This is the basis of peace through development, and there is no alternative. The only other approach would be to accept the policy of London and Wall Street banking interests who are facing general catastrophic breakdown of their financial bubble and who want to maintain divisions, conflicts, wars in order to keep the power of the bankrupt Western financial system,” the analyst noted.
Why Trump is being attacked
“That’s why Trump is being attacked, attacked as being a puppet of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and the Russians, as being a racist, a Nazi, all of which is ludicrous and insane. The purpose, the reason behind these attacks is because Trump wants peace with Russia and China,” Billington said.
“So the nuclear issue, I don’t approve personally or our organization. The modernization of the nuclear arsenal, it’s not necessary. But that’s the posture he has taken. And of course there is a great deal of wasted resources and so forth and the congressional crowd who is pushing him to drop out of the INF Treaty must be stopped,” he contended.
“But…I don’t think there is remotely any chance Trump is going to allow this manic faction in the United States [to achieve their goals] who are trying to get rid of him through a color revolution, the coup against their own president,” the journalist concluded.
