Dovizioso wins at Silverstone, takes championship lead
Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati has won the British MotoGP at Silverstone, stealing the overall lead from defending champion Marc Marquez who suffered a mechanical failure.
On Sunday, Dovizioso popped in front of Valentino Rossi with 3 laps left to claim his 2nd race in succession and the 4th of the year with a time of 40 minutes, 45.496 seconds.
Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales finished 2nd, 0.114 seconds behind the Italian rider, while 7-time champion Rossi came home in 3rd. Dovizioso has now regained the lead of the championship standings by 9 points.
