Iran volleyball team claims title in FIVB U19 World Championship

The Iran men's national under-19 volleyball team has exhibited an impressive performance in the final showdown of the 2017 Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship in Bahrain, lifting the trophy at the end of the high-status event.

On Sunday evening, the Iranian team, which had trounced South Korea in straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-18) in a semi-final match the previous day, managed to prevail over the Russian side 3-1 (20 – 25, 23 – 25, 25 – 21 and 20 – 25) at the end of the title challenge held in the city of Riffa.

The 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship started in Bahrain on August 18, and wrapped up on August 27.

Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Massoud Soltanifar, in a message, extended his deepest congratulations on the outstanding achievement.

“The conquest of the top podium in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship by competent and capable Iranian youths is a source of pride and satisfaction. The title was clinched through the sustained efforts of Iranian managers, coaches and volleyball players in light of careful; management and effective cooperation," he said.

“I hereby extend my felicitations to all Iranian sports associations and the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation, and wish young Iranian players further success in the future. I thank you all for bringing joy to the heart of all Iranians and making them proud,” the minister added in his message.
