There are strong indications that Hamas leaders are in negotiations with the former Fatah chief in Gaza, Mohammed Dahlan, to forge a power-sharing agreement.
The possible return of Dahlan to Gaza seems amazing because he once led a coup against the elected Hamas government in Gaza in 2007. The plan was a massive failure. In the matter of a few days in the summer of 2007, Hamas routed Dahlan's forces.
Hamas has managed to withstand Israeli wars, but an Israeli-Egyptian siege has proved nearly impossible to overcome. Two million Palestinians in Gaza suffer from life-threatening cuts of electricity, food, clean water, medicine and fuel, not to mention that they are denied freedom of movement.
