The Bahraini authorities' "vicious escalation" of a crackdown on dissidents along with the changing climate of the regional politics bear the hallmarks of a regime reaching a dead end, says a London-based political analyst.

In an interview with Press TV on Thursday, Saeed Shahabi shed some light on the crisis Al Khalifah is faced with, saying the reactionary behavior which it is showing is typical of “a baseless and illegitimate regime” reaching an impasse.

He cited Bahraini authorities "swearing nonstop" against Iran, Shias and activists at a time Riyadh is opening up to the Iranians, saying the international rights groups' slamming of the regime’s aggressive behavior show Manama has hit a dead end.
