Netanyahu in crisis
Israeli media call it the worst of times for the regime’s Prime Minister. Benjamin Netanyahu has been keeping the post for 11 years and is on course to become Israel’s longest-serving prime minister. But his political career is under serious threat from a series of corruption investigations that have rocked his premiership. Netanyahu is engulfed in a series of scandals, including improperly accepting lavish gifts from Hollywood and international business figures. The Israeli prime minister denies any wrongdoing. But a recent survey found that 72 percent of the Israelis are in favor of pushing ahead with the corruption investigations.
Odinga again center of Kenya post-election unrest
Tensions over Kenya's presidential election; on Friday, Uhuru Kenyatta was declared the winner, defeating Raila Odinga for a second five-year term. He got 54 percent of the vote while Odinga, a longtime rival, received 45 percent. Protests and violence broke out after Odinga rejected the results of the presidential election. At least 24 people have lost their lives nationwide. The incumbent President has called for peace, tweeting, "Fellow Kenyans, elections come and go but Kenya is here to stay. Let us always remember that we are all brothers and sisters." A polarizing figure, Odinga has been running for the presidency for a fourth time.
