Naive art works on display at Brussels biennale

exhibition of naive art in Brussels

An exhibition in Brussels is displaying colorful works of modern naive art, often created by artists who have no formal education and training.
The biennale show is dedicated to paintings and sculptures in a detailed, simple, and almost childlike style. The works include paintings as well as Paper Mache statues, and other unusual materials.

Artists from all over the world participate in the fair. Depicting details is an important aspect of naive art, with artists often painting the tiniest items of their works.

A lack of visual perspective is another common feature of the naive style.  Experts say the naive style is seeing resurgence in popularity. The exhibition runs until September ninth.
