Suspected Daesh terrorist stabs police officer to death in Istanbul

A Turkish police officer has been stabbed to death by a suspected member of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group who was arrested in relation to a planned bombing attack.

The police officer was injured late on Sunday, while transporting the assailant to a police station after his arrest. The policeman died from his wounds after being taken to a local hospital.

The attacker, who was apprehend over suspension of planning a bombing attack, was shot by the police then. It is still not clear how he retained a knife after being arrested.

In recent years, Daesh militants have carried out a series of gun and bomb attacks in Turkey. According to figures released by the country’s Interior Ministry, over 300 have been killed in major terrorist attacks.

This is while the Turkish government has itself been accused of providing Takfiri militants with logistical support and safe passage into neighboring Syria.
