Iran finishes 16th at World Junior Water Polo Championships

The national Iranian junior water polo team has rounded off its campaign at the 19th edition of Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) World Men’s Junior Water Polo Championships in Serbia, and finished in the 16th place.

On Saturday, the Iranian team lost to Egypt 16-8 in its last fixture of the tournament at Sports Center Milan Gale Muškatirović in the Serbian capital city of Belgrade.

Egypt’s Seifeldeen Hesham recorded a magnificent nine goals, including three penalty strikes, while Mehdi Yazdankhan scored three goals for Iran.

The Iranian junior water polo squad had lost to the Dutch team 4-15 the previous day.

The Iranian outfit overcame the South African contingent 15-9 on August 10.

On August 9, Iran’s national junior water polo team slumped to a 3-15 defeat against the American team.

Young Iranian athletes defeated their Puerto Rican counterparts 8-7 in their third match on August 7.

Iran went down to a 2-18 loss against Greece on August 4, after losing its opening match to Russia 2-19 the day before.

The 19th edition of the FINA World Men’s Junior Water Polo Championships opened in Belgrade, Serbia, on August 5, and will conclude on August 13, 2017.
