Dressel ties Phelps' record for gold medals

Caeleb Dressel won his seventh gold medal of the world championships on Sunday, putting the US team ahead to stay with another dominating swim in the 4x100m medley relay.

Caeleb Dressel of the United States has tied the great Michael Phelps's record of seven gold medals at a single FINA World Championships.

Dressel underlined his credentials as the world's fastest starter in breathtaking fashion in Budapest, when he broke away on the butterfly leg to give his country the gold medal in the men's 4×100 meters medley relay.

The 20-year-old had already won three individual gold medals in the event, which ended on Sunday. He also helped the USA to register their best-ever world championship haul, with 38 medals.
