2 receive stabbing wounds in Tehran subway brawl

At least two people have sustained stabbing injuries in a physical brawl that ensued a “verbal conflict” at a subway station in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The incident took place on Saturday when a man used a box cutter against several other commuters at Shahre Rey station, located in a Tehran suburb of the same name.

Hadi Tamhidi, a deputy at Shahre Rey governorate, said the incident was prompted by a “verbal conflict.” He further noted that police shot the assailant and wounded him, but he died en route to the hospital.

Travel at the Subway was not affected by the incident.
